Frozen Food Packaging Industry- Perforation Knife Success

The brief:
Frictec have been working with and supplying customers in the frozen food industry for many years. One customer was experiencing problems in their vertical form fill and seal machines in the bagging hall. The main issues were a build-up of print and plastic residue on the perforating blades that impeded the cutting action resulting in the knives having to be changed on a regular basis.
The result:
Frictec recommended a change in the blade material and adding a PVD preparatory coating that had good wear resistant properties as well as a low coefficient of friction therefore reducing product build up on the knives.
The results were that the Frictec knives lasted on average 4 to 5 times longer than the standard blades.
