Our History
In the 1980s, Professor Monty Bedford led pioneering research into friction welding, which evolved into the development of friction surfacing—a process that enhances the performance and lifespan of engineered components.
Frictec Ltd was founded in the late 1980s to commercialise this technology. By the early 1990s, we scaled the process for full commercial use, culminating in the development of the TMC45, our full-scale friction-surfacing machine. Today, we specialise in friction surfacing solutions for machine knives and wear parts, improving their durability and efficiency.
With over 30 years of experience in manufacturing industrial knives and consumable wear parts for the packaging industry, Frictec has earned the trust of multinational companies across the world.
